Betty Jos Dance Center Faculty


Marianne Raub

Instructor

KaitinMarianne Raub is happy to be back living in the Midwest with her family after years on the East Coast. Marianne spent much of her performance career with Ballet Iowa rising to the position of principal. She has also danced with Indianapolis Ballet Theatre, The Lexington Ballet, Virginia Ballet Theatre and Ontario Ballet Theatre. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Butler University and is also happy to have trained with Wilhelm Burmann, Diana Cartier and Constance Walsh. Marianne is an accomplished floral designer and proud mother of Eveline.

David Pellinen

Instructor

David Pellinen also known as Abide, entered the world of dance in 1998 through Hip Hop. Dancer at NBA and WNBA game night entertainment 2009 to present. In his dance career David has touched four continents in which he has performed in the streets of Kampala, Tokyo, Nairobi, Amsterdam, Atlanta, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Los Angeles, and has shared the stage with musical acts KRS One, Afrika Bambaataa, Vanilla Ice, Agape, Ryan Daniel, DJ Premier, Mello-D, Guante, Big Cats!, and Diamond D, and has performed locally at venues such as the Guthrie Theater, Soundset Music Festival, The MN Shubert/Cowles Center for the Performing Arts, Patrick's Cabaret, and Treasure Island, to name a few. Abide is active in Hip Hop Culture through membership in the organization TC Omega, and continues to perform, compete and teach dance classes and workshops throughout the Twin Cities Metro area in Minnesota. David is married and has two children.


Kelly Lilledahl

Instructor

Kelly was a member of Eastview High School's Varsity Dance Team all four years in high school, serving as the Captain her senior year. She graduated in 2006 from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a major in Communications and a minor in Dance and Coaching. During college, Kelly was the head coach of the UMD Dance Team and the assistant coach for Duluth Central High School's Dance Team. She has been trained by the Judges' Association of Minnesota to judge all levels of competitions and categories. Kelly joined the staff of Betty Jo's Dance Center in 2006.

Lindsay Lundgren

Instructor

Lindsay grew up in the midwest in Nebraska where she studio danced competitively for 14 years. She then moved to California to pursue her love of dance. She spent 7 years in San Diego and attended Mesa College where she taught, performed, choreographed and created dances, costumes and lights for performances. She is also trained in injury prevention and nutrition for dancers. She has prepared for and attended auditions and casting sessions as a dancer, often leading and supervising these sessions. She has taught students age 3-adult in jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern and tap classes which included warm-up, stretching and strengthening, and cool down segments. Lindsay joined the staff of Betty Jo's Dance Center in 2011.


Kaleena Miller

Instructor

Kaleena's early dance training began under the instruction of Karla Grotting and Char Weiss. She is a 2006 graduate from the U with a BFA in Dance. Kaleena has studied on scholarship in NYC with Manhattan Tap’s Heather Cornell, and was seen in "Naari: The Woman" with Roxane Butterfly at the O'Shaughnessy. She also directed, choreographed and performed in the sold out "Scuff Marks" at Old Arizona. She currently performs and tours with Rhythmic Circus, hosts the monthly tap jam and performance “The Cutting Board” at the 331 Club, and is on staff at Ballareteatro Dance Theatre in Minneapolis and Dance Arts Centre in Eden Prairie. Kaleena joined the instructional staff of Betty Jo’s Dance Center in 2007.

Shelley Roush

Instructor

Shelley grew up dancing at Betty Jo's Dance Center, was a teaching assistant throughout high school and joined the instructional staff in 1998. She graduated with an interior design degree from Dakota County Technical College. Shelley studied tap at the University of Minnesota, attended dance workshops in various metro area studios and in Chicago, was the assistant coach for a local Jr. High Dance Team and was on the teaching staff at several summer Dance Camps.


Megan Halsey

Instructor

Megan Halsey has been performing, teaching, and choreographing dance through out Minnesota and California for the past fifteen years. Her training began at Larkin Dance Studio in Maplewood, MN, and she went on to earn her BFA degree in Dance on scholarship from California State University, Long Beach in 2005. Megan was an active member of the Southern California dance community from 2001 to 2008 as a member of Bare Dance Company & Keith Johnson Dancers. After relocating to Minneapolis in 2008, Megan has been an active teacher and choreographer around the Twin Cities area, and was a member of Alternative Motion Project Dance Company from 2011-2014. She has extensive experience performing, teaching, and choreographing ballet, modern, contemporary and hiphop, and loves to share her knowledge and passion for movement with her students and the dance community. She is currently a Special Education Assistant for the Minneapolis Public School System and is thrilled to join the staff at Betty Jo's Dance Center for the 2016-2017 season.

 

Anna Roehr

Instructor

Anna Roehr began her dance training at the age of seven with Ballet Nouveau Colorado. She studied there under Julia Wilkinson Manley, Richard and Jennifer Grund, and Marie Jose Payannet. Following that, she studied the R.A.D. vocational levels through high school while spending summers with Ballet Magnificat and Colorado Ballet. Anna was accepted to the dance department with a scholarship at Colorado State University in 2008. She studied with Carol Roderick, Chung-Fu Chang and Jane Slusarski-Harris as well as guest artists Viktor Kabaniaev, Judy Bejarano, Katie Elliot and Andrew Skeels. Anna was a member of the CSU touring student company as well as CSU’s ballet repertory ensemble. She choreographed her senior thesis, Black Ink, Blue Lines, which was showcased in an evening length production in 2012. After receiving her B.A. in performing arts, Anna began teaching pointe and ballet technique for The Studio Company. In 2014, she joined the company at Saint Paul Ballet in addition to teaching for the school. 2015 is her first year teaching for Betty Jo's Dance Center. She is excited to share her passion for dance through teaching!


Elizabeth Ippolito

Adjunct Instructor

Elizabeth Ippolito received her training at the Princeton Ballet School and in summer study at North Carolina School of the Arts and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. She has also studied with Risa Gary Kaplowitz, Elisabeth Carroll, and in NYC with Nancy Bielski. Ms. Ippolito has performed in New York City and the NY metropolitan area with Classics Dance Theater, Metropolitan Repertory Ballet, Princeton Ballet II, and as a guest artist. She has also been a company member of The Metropolitan Ballet of Minneapolis and Continental Ballet (Bloomington). Ms.Ippolito has danced in the Nutcracker, La Traviata, A Christmas Carol, Paquita, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and many other repertory works. She has taught at several schools including Steps on Broadway (NYC) and Princeton Dance and Theater (NJ), the studio of Risa Kaplowitz and Susan Jaffe. She has been certified in Pilates and joined the staff of Betty Jo’s Dance Center in 2006.

Duncan Shultz

Adjunct Instructor

DuncanDuncan Schultz, a Minnesota native, is a University of Minnesota graduate with a BA in Dance. He started out dancing very young and hasn’t let go of his passion for it ever since. Outside of his training in MN, he has spent summers training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet in New York, as well as Alonzo King LINES Ballet in San Francisco. Duncan has performed with multiple companies in the Twin Cities area in his professional career and currently is a company member with TU Dance in Saint Paul. He has taught for the past 10 years around the metro area and is excited to join the family at Betty Jo’s Dance Center.
